Abstract

Ophidian accidents are caused by snakes and differ in terms of clinical importance. Venomous accidents have high importance to public health and deserve necessary attention about assistance provided with the shortest possible time between occurrence and care. This article aims to describe the cases of snakebites that occurred and reported in the municipality of Tarauacá-Acre, from 2010 to 2020. For this, public domain information from the Notification Disease System (SINAN) was used and the statistical analysis was performed. performed with the help of Microsoft Excel® 2010 software for the construction of graphs, tabulations, tables, calculations. In the period considered, there were 223 cases of snakebite, the genus with the highest occurrence was Bothrops, the months with the highest occurrence were December, January, April and October; the year with the highest occurrence was 2016; the most frequent age group is from 21 to 50 years old and in males; most accidents are mild to moderate; pain, swelling and ecchymosis are the most common manifestations; the most common complication is secondary infection. 55.15% of the cases were declared as an accident at work and an important amount was of people with incomplete elementary school education. The importance of the study around a reality in the interior of Acre can provide knowledge of the riverside regions of the Amazon and add to improvements in the assistance provided. It is noticed that the incidences agglutinate in seasonal periods and significant in years of floods.
